Re-Fingerprinting Project Executive Summary
Pursuant to Florida Statute §1012.32, all instructional and noninstructional personnel who are hired or contracted to fill positions requiring direct contact with students in any district school system must be fingerprinted and undergo a background screening. The District has two years – until June 30, 2009, to bring all of its employees into compliance with this law.

The new law requires FDLE and the FBI to maintain prints. All employees who were hired prior to July 1, 2004 must be re-fingerprinted by June 30, 2009. The only exception to this will be those employees who are currently enrolled in DROP and will not be employed by the District on June 30, 2009.

The Department of Professional Standards & Equity will begin fingerprinting employees who were hired before July 1, 2004. It is important to note that all fees related to the re-fingerprinting process for all categories of employees will be borne by the District.
